Who we are
Our Core Values
Our Story
In 2018, shortly after registration, the Foundation began work in Buyende District, focusing on the search for the endangered Shoebill Stork. During this time, Lake Nakuwa- one of Uganda’s 10 RAMSAR sites- had been overtaken by the invasive weed Salvinia molesta.
Working closely with NARO’s Invasive Species Coordination Unit, LDS Church, and community volunteers, we introduced a biological agent (weevils) that successfully eradicated the weed within one year.
Two years later, fish populations began to recover, and sightings of the Shoebill slowly returned—bringing hope to communities who depend on the lake. This successful intervention strengthened our commitment to conservation, youth engagement, and environmental restoration.
