Our Projects

Past Projects

Lake Nakuwa is one of Uganda’s ten RAMSAR sites and the sole RAMSAR site in the Busoga subregion. This vital wetland is a haven for a diverse range of birds, fish, reptiles, and other wildlife.

Regrettably, despite its international significance, the site has suffered from neglect. The condition of the signpost has deteriorated, and efforts to repair or replace it have been lacking.

Moreover, the lake, once a crucial resource for local communities providing food, transport, and income, was overrun by invasive water weed (Salvinia molesta). In response to this crisis, Generations Root Foundation, in collaboration with their partners from the USA, took decisive action to address the issue. Current Projects

Tree Planting

We are actively involved in tree planting initiatives across schools and hospitals. Our projects focus on planting both fruit trees and trees for shade and firewood, which are especially beneficial in rural communities. Additionally, we establish hedges around schools to deter unauthorized access by intruders and animals.

Beekeeping

Recognizing the critical role bees play in pollination and the health of ecosystems, we operate an apiary to support and promote beekeeping. Through educational programs for communities and schools, we highlight the importance of bees and foster sustainable practices.
